Name: Media Center City: Ouzinkie Location: Alaska | Comment: Daily Pic, Whalebird aka Northern Fulmar, rescued after being blown into Faith's backyard during this morning's storm, gusts to southeast 50. The bird was not injured and released to back to the ocean when the wind calmed down. As it paddled off, it was nearly retrieved by a dog on Sandy Beach. When the bird made a few short flights to the middle of the bay, an eagle started swooping it, but the plucky little bird avoided capture by ducking underwater. Finally an irate seagull zoomed on the scene and chased the eagle off, and our bird flew away to a happy life at sea. |

They are unsure if one generator could supply the entire community... At the writing of this at ten thirty six no repair man has arrived in Ouzinkie. I have been unable to talk with my dad, but it sounds like both the diesel generators have broke down and of course Mahoona is frozen so the the hydroelectric power is off. They have intermitent phone service, but am unsure for how much longer. The school is closed and many homes are without heat. If you can call home and check on your families. Praying for them, Lena |
